The house that never was

We got some information about and drove past the house from this post today.

Well, I'm sure that at one time it was a house, but right now it is a shell. It looks like the previous owner gutted it to start renovations and for whatever reason, wasn't able to finish. It turns out that it is a foreclosure. The value of the house - I am assuming the value before the work was started - is $72k. It is a 3 bedroom, 1 bath that is 4 houses from the lake. There is a huge garage/out building on the property, and a pretty decent sized back yard.

The best part is the kitchen. (The paneling is just leaning against *something* so I''m not sure what is behind it.)If we were planning to stay in this area for a while (5 years or more) I would buy this house without a second thought. I would slap some drywall up, toss some carpet down, and move my family in. We would renovate one room at a time paying cash the whole way. Unfortunately (or fortunately... depends on my mood) we aren't planning to be here for much longer.

exactly! It would be a really nice house if I could get in there and fix things. Sigh... oh well. Maybe in the next place they send us.
